Brendon McCullum in awe of Indian pacers: As we head closer to the ICC World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand, plenty of former cricketers and legends have given away their thoughts as to what to expect from the grand event. This time it was former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum who weighed in on Team India’s pace bowling unit, which is considered as one of the best in the world right now.
Bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj have all displayed terrific skill away from home. Brendon McCullum believes that this is the most complete Indian pace attack that he’s witnessed. Complimentary support from ace spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja adds further balance to their bowling attack.
McCullum lauds Indian pace bowling unit
“I can only really talk about the time I was around the international game. India have had the likes of Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath but I think in the last 20 years would have to be close to their best seam-bowling line-up. And then spinners Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin as well. I think, it’s probably the most-rounded bowling line-up and is probably the best bowling line-up to probably travel to all conditions,” McCullum told sports today.
The bowling attack, and especially the pace battery of the Indian cricket team has done remarkably well overseas, which has led to back-to-back series wins in Australia.
Talking about current day scenario, Virat Kohli and his men are training at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton. Meanwhile, New Zealand will be taking on hosts England for the second Test at Edgbaston that starts on June 10.
