Women’s T20 Challenge 2021: India Women are scheduled for a busy cricketing summer ahead with tours of England and Australia lined-up. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced that the remaining 31 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Phase 2 will be organised in the UAE during the September-October window. However, the Women’s T20 Challenge 2021 is very much likely to be cancelled with regards to the busy schedule of thee Indian Women’s team.
Women’s T20 Challenge 2021 Cancelled
The three-team Women’s version of the IPL which was running successfully since 2018, could be cancelled this year as there was no mention about it in the BCCI’s recent Special General Meeting (SGM) and also, there is almost no scope to accommodate the tournament when the IPL resumes in the UAE. However, nothing official has been announced as of yet by the BCCI with regards to the Women’s T20 Challenge 2021 but with the India Women scheduled to tour Australia in September, the event is likely to get cancelled.

“There was no discussion on Women’s T20 Challenge in the last SGM but the board has already finalized this. India will be touring Australia in September for a long tour and with WBBL following, so naturally, we are not in a position to host the event,” a senior BCCI official told Cricket.com
Also, with the possibility of shifting the T20 World Cup in the UAE, there will be serious logistical issues in organising the Women’s T20 Challenge 2021. India Women are scheduled to play 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and one-off Test in Australia from 19 September-11 October.
