Ollie Robinson Old Tweet: Things have turned around dramatically for England’s Test debutant pacer Ollie Robinson due to his controversial old tweets resurfacing on the social media. The several racist and sexist remarks which he made on Twitter way back almost 8-10 years ago have come under the scanner while he made his international debut for England against New Zealand in the ongoing 1st Test match at Lord’s on 2 June. The matter went serious rapidly and after the end of day’s play, Robinson even issued a clear apology for his scandalous old tweets.
Ollie Robinson Gets Support From Ex-Roommate
It is surely a tough time for the 27-year-old Ollie Robinson to counter this severe criticism from the English media and the fans of cricket, however, his ex-teammate and roommate at Yorkshire, Moin Ashraf, has come out in his support. In his recent tweet, Ashraf clearly mentioned that Robinson isn’t a racist at all. The Yorkshire cricketer also revealed that the duo had shared room during teenage at that time and never has the England pacer made any racist comments. Ashraf reckoned that since Robinson has apologised for his irresponsible behaviour, it is time to move on.
As an ex teammate of Ollie Robinson’s in the Yorkshire set up, having roomed, shared the field and gone out for dinners and socials with him, I know full well he isn’t a racist.
Yes, the remarks were inexcusable and irresponsible. He’s apologised. We should forgive, and move on.

Despite making an apology during the post-match press conference yesterday, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive officer Tom Harrison has already confirmed that an investigation will be launched against Ollie Robinson in the above stated matter. Harrison was very much disappointed with the English cricketer’s racist remarks and even stated that the cricket board has a “zero-tolerance” policy towards any sort of discrimination.
“I do not have the words to express how disappointed I am that an England Men’s player has chosen to write tweets of this nature, however long ago that might have been. Any person reading those words, particularly a woman or person of colour, would take away an image of cricket and cricketers that is completely unacceptable,” Tom Harrison said.
“We are better than this. We have a zero-tolerance stance to any form of discrimination and there are rules in place that handle conduct of this nature. We will initiate a full investigation as part of our disciplinary process,” he added.
