NZ Playing 11: A strong New Zealand side will be up against the hosts England side in the first Test of the series here at Lord’s. The conditions and the pitches will suit NZ and their lethal bowling attack can cause serious damage to the hosts. This series will also be a good practice for the Kiwis ahead of the WTC Final. The overall head-to-head record is something that the visitors would like to change as England lead New Zealand 48-11 out of 105 matches. But the Kiwis look extremely strong here with a no. of experienced players in their team.
This tour is Watling’s last international tour and he will look to finish this on a high. Trent Boult will not be available for this match but all the other players are available.
NZ Playing 11 (likely)
Tom Latham
Tom Blundell
Kane Williamson (C)
Ross Taylor
Henry Nicholls
BJ Watling (wk)
Colin de Grandhomme
Mitchell Santner
Kyle Jamieson
Tim Southee
Neil Wagner
NZ possess a strong batting line-up led by skipper Kane Williamson. With Taylor and Nicholls in the middle order, they have the experience on their side. Watling will be looking to score runs lower down the order. Bowling looks extremely strong even with Trent Boult missing this match. Southee, Jamieson and Wagner will pose a difficult challenge to the English batters in seaming conditions.
