IPL 2021 Second Leg: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced that the remaining 31 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season will resume in the UAE during the September-October window. However, the biggest worry for the BCCI in organising the IPL 2021 Phase in UAE will be the availability of foreign players due to the busy international calendar. In the recent development, Bangladesh star duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are all set to miss the second leg of IPL 2021.

IPL 2021 Second Leg: Blow To KKR & RR

After missing the last season, Shakib Al Hasan made his IPL return in 2021 for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while Mustafizur Rahman was a key part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) playing 11 before the tournament was suspended earlier this month. In a recent interview, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan confirmed that Shakib has absolutely no chance of being available for the remaining IPL 2021 matches as they already have a series scheduled against England at home during that time period. The BCB President also stated that the star all-rounder won’t be granted the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the second leg of IPL 2021.

“Shakib has no chance of playing the remaining IPL matches because England will be touring Bangladesh for a series at that time. He won’t be getting NOC,” Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon said to bdcrictime.

IPL New Schedule

Both Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are unlikely to be released for the IPL restart in UAE. Also, Bangladesh are scheduled to host Australia and New Zealand for a five-match T20 series each during August-September.

The BCCI is yet to confirm anything official over the availability of overseas cricketers for the second leg of IPL 2021 season in the UAE. However, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Director of Cricket Ashley Giles has already confirmed that the England players will not be available for the remaining 31 matches of IPL Phase 2 as they too have international cricket scheduled during the September-October window. Also, there is still uncertainty regarding the availability of foreign players from Australia, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
