Once, one of the mightiest team in world cricket, this African nation is now struggling to make a mark in International circuit. The condition of the players under the Zimbabwean cricket board is no different. They are underpaid and are struggling to male their ends meet. To bring light to this pathetic situation, Zimbabwean cricketer Ryan Burl posted a photo of his torn shoes, begging the public and agencies for a sponsorship for the national team.

One of the brightest prospects of Zimbabwean cricket, Ryan Burl took to twitter yesterday to post about the heart-breaking state of Zimbabwean cricket team. He posted a photo of his torn shoes and requested the agencies and public to provide him and his national team a sponsorship, so that they do not have to glue their shoes back after every series.

This news came in as a shock for all those people who have watched Zimbabwe cricket in their golden days. As a result, people on social media are massively tagging huge sports manufactures under this post and are hoping to play their part in the resurgence of Zimbabwean cricket.

The shocking downfall of Zimbabwe cricket

Zimbabwe used to be a strong and dominant cricketing nation back in the decade before 2010’s. They had several world class players including Heath Streak, Tatenda Taibu and Flower brothers. After their retirement and due to several political reasons, Zimbabwe cricket witnessed a significant downfall in the 2010s.

Even the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Zimbabwe and disallowed the country into participating in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in July 2019. However, they were reinstated by the apex body in October. A proposed home series against India was expected to generate huge revenue for the Board, but the ongoing pandemic made the BCCI to cancel the series, thereby shattering the hopes of Zimbabwe Cricket.
