Fans love to see batsmen smashing bowlers to all the parts of the ground with ball travelling the distance more often than not.
What is the Highest Score in IPL
Let’s look at top 5 highest score in IPL history
1. 263/5 – RCB vs PWI
Chris Gayle’s once in a lifetime knock propelled RCB to a mammoth 263 in 20 overs which is the highest score in IPL to date. The universe BOSS, most dangerous batsman in IPL, showed no mercy and no bowlers were spared barring Bhuvneshwar Kumar that day as Chris Gayle scored 175 off 66 balls scoring at a rate of 15 runs per over.
2. 248/3 – RCB vs GL
No surprises that the top 2 highest scores are by RCB in Bengaluru which is a graveyard for bowlers with flat tracks and short boundaries and the ball travels because of high altitude in there. A mammoth 229 run partnership between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers was nothing short of a spectacle. They took 97 balls to add 229 runs with both AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli smashing centuries.
3. 246/5 – CSK vs RR
Murali Vijay was at his peak of his powers in 2010 and he smashed a belligerent 127 off 56 balls to help CSK post the now 3rd highest score in IPL history against RR in Chennai. He was ably supported by the dynamic former South African all-rounder Albie Morkel who scored 62 off 34 balls including 5 maximums and 3 boundaries.
4. 245/6- KKR vs KXIP
Indore is another high scoring venue with short boundaries and a flat wicket. KXIP decided to bowl first and little did they know that they were going to be destroyed by a powerful KKR batting lineup. Sunil Narine blasted 75 off 36 balls opening the innings and set the tone for Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell who scored 50 and 31 respectively. KKR smashed 39 boundaries in their 120 balls and this explains it all.
5. 240/5- CSK vs KXIP
This was the inaugural edition of IPL and those were the days where 200 plus scores were a rarity. Mr. Cricket and Mr. IPL demolished KXIP attack in Mohali that day to help CSK post 240 on the board batting first which is the 5th highest score in IPL history. Mike Hussey was in full flow as he scored 116 off 54 balls including 9 maximums and 8 boundaries. Suresh Raina did the role of a finisher to perfection where he ended with 32 runs off 13 balls including 3 sixes and 2 fours.
