Chetan Sakariya Uses IPL Salary for Father’s Covid-19 Treatment

Chetan Sakariya IPL Salary: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of most celebrated tournaments in the entire world much due to the competitiveness and the monetary value involved in it. Rajasthan Royals (RR) newest recruit Chetan Sakariya has revealed that he has utilized his IPL 2021 salary for the treatment of his father who tested positive for Covid-19. Sakariya was picked in the IPL 2021 auction by the Sanju Samson-led RR team at a price of INR 1.20 crores and he performed excellently well in his debut season before the postponement of the tournament.

During a recent interview, Chetan Sakariya mentioned that after receiving a part of his IPL salary, he straightaway transferred the entire amount to his family. The left-arm pacer also stated that the IPL as a platform has helped him stand up financially a lot in his toughest time.
“I was lucky because I had received my part payment from Rajasthan Royals a few days ago. I straight away transferred money back home, and that is helping my family the most in my toughest time,” Chetan Sakariya was quoted as saying in The New Indian Express.
While being the sole earning hand in his family, Sakariya revealed that cricket is the only source of his earnings. He reckoned that the proceeds from the IPL 2021 season has helped him to provide his father with better medical treatment.

“People are saying stop IPL. I want to tell them something; I am the only bread earner in my family. Cricket is the only source of my earnings. I can give better treatment to my father because of the money I earned from IPL.
“Had this tournament not happened for a month, it would have been tougher for me. I come from a poor family; my father all his life drove tempo; and because of IPL my whole life, was about to change,” he added.

IPL 2021: Chetan Sakariya impresses in his debut IPL season
After doing well for Saurashtra at the domestic level, Chetan Sakariya performed impressively well in his debut IPL season to live up to the expectations that the Rajasthan Royals had from the youngster. Before the suspension of the tournament, the left-arm fast bowler picked up a total of 7 wickets in as many game for RR that included a couple of three-wicket hauls as well at an economy of 8.22. Sakariya picked the vital wickets of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Jhye Richardson in his first-ever IPL match against Punjab Kings. He then dismissed the likes of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu in the game against Chennai Super Kings.
