Shams Mulani named Axar Patel’s COVID Replacement for IPL 2021
Apart from adding Aniruddha in the squad, Delhi Capitals have also roped in Shams Mulani as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel who tested positive for the deadly virus before the start of the tournament. The decision is very much in accordance with the guidelines issued by the BCCI under which the IPL’s Player Regulation Rule 6.1 (c) states that a franchise is allowed to sign a short-term replacement player until the original member of the squad recovers and is permitted to enter the bio-bubble. This also means that Mulani will be part of the Delhi Capitals squad until Axar recovers from coronavirus and the left-arm spinner is not eligible to feature in some other franchise this season after leaving the DC squad.
There is yet another good news from the Delhi Capitals camp as their premier overseas pacer Anrich Nortje has tested negative for Covid-19 thrice and has entered the team bio-bubble in Mumbai. Nortje will be available for selection for their next match against Punjab Kings on April 18 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
