CSK Playing 11: The 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings will face Punjab Kings in the 8th match of IPL 2021 here at Wankhede. Having suffered a loss to Delhi Capitals in their first match, the pressure will be on Dhoni’s men to bounce back against a rejuvenated Punjab side. CSK hold a better head-to-head record against the Kings which will give them confidence going into this game. In 23 matches played between these two teams, 14 have been won by Chennai while 9 have gone Punjab’s way. Chennai also had upper hand over Punjab in the last season winning both the fixtures comprehensively. With a huge amount of experience in the line-up, CSK would look to bounce back.
Lungi Ngidi and Jason Behrendorff remain unavailable due to quarantine rules. That means CSK are likely to field the same eleven that lost to Delhi. Here is how their eleven could be shaped up for this match:
CSK Playing 11 (likely)
R Gaikwad
F du Plessis
M Ali
S Raina
A Rayudu
M Dhoni (C) (wk)
R Jadeja
S Curran
D Bravo
S Thakur
D Chahar
CSK will expect their experienced batsmen like du Plessis, Raina and Dhoni to get them to a big total on a good batting wicket. Raina’s form was a big positive for them but Dhoni’s form remains a concern. Bowling lacked penetration in the last match which allowed Delhi to chase a big target with ease.
