After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen has played an outstanding innings of 123 runs off 134 balls to help his team post a challenging total of 273 for 6 in their 50 overs. During the first innings, Pakistani fielder Asif Ali was involved in an insane fielding effort to save a six near the boundary line. On the last delivery of the 47^th over, van der Dussen went for a wild a slog towards the deep mid-wicket region where initially Asif took an incredible catch but couldn’t hold on to it during the jump.

Incidentally, it was Asif Ali who dropped a simple chance given by van der Dussen in the fielding while he was yet to get off the mark.

SA vs PAK 1^st ODI: Rassie van der Dussen’s maiden century powers hosts to 273/6

South Africa got off to a horrendous start with losing both their openers, Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram inside the first 7 overs of the game. The duo of skipper Temba Bavuma and Heinrich Klaasen also departed early leaving South Africa in a big trouble at 55 for 4. However, then the pair of David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen resurrected the South African innings with a remarkable partnership of 116 runs for the fifth wicket. Miller smashed a fine knock of 50 runs off 56 balls.

But the star of the innings was Rassie van der Dussen who notched up his maiden ODI century which comprised of 10 fours and 2 sixes. Van der Dussen’s unbeaten 123-run knock helped South Africa reach 273 for 6 in their quota of 50 overs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf picked two wickets each.
