IPL MVP Contenders : Amidst the pandemic, amidst a lot of uncertainties, BCCI conducted the 13th edition of IPL in 2020 in UAE and it turned out to be the most exciting IPL of all the seasons. It has only added more fuel and context to 2021 IPL.
IPL MVP contenders
IPL is back to India and with less than 8 days to go for the marque event, lets take a look at the players who can be IPL MVP for their respective franchise.
Mumbai Indians – Hardik Pandya
He had a stellar IPL 2020 with the bat where he scored 281 runs at an average of 35 to go with a mind-boggling strike rate of 178. He struck 25 maximums and that’s what is expected from a finisher. He is in top form at the moment and more importantly he has started to bowl which went missing in the previous season.
Delhi Capitals- Rishabh Pant
The new skipper of the DC endured a pretty ordinary season last year by his standards. Since then, he has been operating at a different level for India across formats. He can be that X-factor for DC with the bat if they are going to reach the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore- Virat Kohli
It has been confirmed that the run machine will be opening the innings for RCB. He scored 973 runs in 2016 opening the innings. Its his most suitable position in the shortest format of the game and don’t be surprised if Virat Kohli replicates his 2016 form in IPL 2021.
Sunrisers Hyderabad- Rashid Khan
SRH play 9 games in Chennai and Delhi combined where the wickets will be low and slow which suits the king Rashid Khan. Although, he is a bowler who can be lethal on any surface, one can imagine the threat he brings on spinner friendly surfaces.
IPL 2021: Strongest CSK Playing 11
Kolkata Knight Riders- Andre Russell
He is still the #1 T20 player in the world. He was a thorough disappointment in IPL2020 but he is fresh and raring to perform in this world cup year. KKR play 7 games in Mumbai and Bangalore together and the wickets in there are tailor made for Andre Russell. The short boundaries in Bangalore will further enhance the threat of Andre Russell. If Andre Russell can bowl consistently and remain injury free, he can win KKR their 3rd title on his own.
‘KKR winning IPL this year?’ SRK gives hilarious reply to fan
Punjab Kings – KL Rahul
All of a sudden, KL Rahul finds himself fighting for a spot in the Indian T20 side. If this doesn’t bother him to play to his potential in this season, don’t know what will. Watch out for the 2018 version of KL Rahul.
Chennai Super Kings- Sam Curran
The pocket dynamite almost won England an ODI on his own in the recently concluded IND vs ENG series. He turned out to be the only positive for CSK in IPL 2020 and he can be the real deal for them going into IPL 2021. He is a complete package and adds value in every department.
Rajasthan Royals- Ben Stokes
He joined the team in the 2nd half of IPL 2020 and couldn’t able to make any impact but he showed what he can do when he played one of the best innings in IPL history ever against Mumbai Indians where he opened the innings.
If Ben Stokes is persisted as an opener in IPL 2021 for all the 14 games, there are little to no doubts about the MVP for Rajasthan Royals.
