Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers: The festivities of the IPL are upon us, and the stars of the game are playing a big role in creating the hype. Recently, Ab de Villiers posted a picture with a caption that suggested that he’s all set for IPL 2021. The India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli made a tongue in cheek comment under the same post “Hope you’re still fast between the wickets”.

The former South African international didn’t take much time to respond and also came up with a witty comment which said “Let’s race tomorrow and find out”

Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers have been the stalwarts of RCB over the years. Though the red army are yet to lift the title, they have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch, courtesy the cricketing genius of these two men in particular.

Virat Kohli has made a 192 appearances for RCB, having scored 5878 runs, which includes 39 fifties and five hundreds. He has an average of 38.2, and a strike rate of 130.7 as well. Talking about AB de Villiers. he has featured in 169 IPL appearances and has scored 4849 runs, which includes 38 fifties, three hundreds, an average of 40.4 and a staggering strike rate of 151.9.
The franchise did make another stellar signing in the auction table as they bagged Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for a whopping 14.25 crore. Maxwell is considered as a T20 specialist, and his big hitting ability, integrated with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers ‘ quality up the order can make RCB a force to be reckoned with.
IPL 2021 Start Date
They do look like a stronger outfit than the previous season, and will be aiming to go the distance this time around. The Challengers have been in three IPL finals before, but have failed to claim the trophy. Nevertheless, it could all very well change within a matter of months as the star studded tournament begins on April 9 with Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore starting off proceedings.
