The wait for Virat Kohli 100 continues! The 1st ODI between India and England is taking place at Pune, and it is turning out to be quite an intriguing contest. England won the toss and elected to have a field first. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took time to settle but gave a good platform of 64 runs before losing the first wicket.
The wait for Virat Kohli 100
It was Virat Kohli who replaced Rohit Sharma on the crease. The Indian captain looked in confident as ever from the very first ball. He played quite a few scintillating shots that made the highlight reel. Kohli scored his 61st 50 in ODIs , and it seemed like he might go for the big one.
However, that’s where fast bowler Mark Wood intervened and got the dangerous Kohli dismissed for 56 from 60 deliveries. The specialist batsman played his trademark flick towards the mid wicket region, but it was Moeen Ali who completed a comfortable catch.
It’s been more than a year since Virat Kohli last scored an international 100. His last 100 came against Bangladesh in November 23, 2019 during the Test Match at Eden Gardens. But in spite of that, the Indian captain still averages above 50 in all three formats of the game, which signifies his class.

The Men in Blue are battling it out on the pitch against a disciplined England bowling attack. Team India will be eying a total of over 300 to give their bowlers a cushion. That being said, we can expect a closely contested affair.
