He sustained an injury in the 1st test match against Australia in Adelaide and missed the entire Australian series and also haven’t been named in the first 2 tests against England.

India dearly missed his services in the 1st test against England in Chepuak where the wicket had no life. According to a PTI source close to Mohammad Shami,
Shami’s forearm is fine right now. He will have some low-intensity net sessions for the next few days. He has been advised to bowl around 18 deliveries a day at 50 to 60 percent effort. Since has been out for more than month and half, that is how the workload will be built. The pink ball Test is still two and half weeks away (February 24). There is a very good chance that Shami will be fit and available for selection

The Bengal pacer is working hard on his fitness and is keen on returning to the Indian team by the 3rd test and his latest post on twitter has made his intentions clear where the pacer is gradually starting to bowl.
