When is IPL Auction 2021? On Wednesday, the player auction date and time for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 were announced. According to a tweet on the official IPL website, the auction will take place in Chennai on February 18.
Although UAE was the official location for IPL 2020 on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, BCCI has still not decided if the IPL will take place in India this time. However, Sourav Ganguly, the Board President, said that he will do his best to hold the tournament at home. The board also confirmed that the deadline for player retention closes on January 20 and the trade window closes on February 4.
Ten players were released by RCB, the most out of the eight teams. KXIP has agreed to terminate a nine-player deal. SRH agreed to keep much of its previous season’s roster, allowing five players to go to the auctions. Interestingly, with the biggest purse of Rs 53.2 crore, Kings XI will go through a mini-auction.
