With 20 December being the last date for franchises to release players ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, all franchises declared their respective lists. The activity triggered massive discussions among fans on social media regarding player releases and tradings.
One RCB fan asked Wasim Jaffer who is Kings XI Punjab’s batting coach to give back KL Rahul to RCB. Rahul represented RCB for a couple of seasons but is currently leading KXIP and is in stellar form. So, there is no way KXIP would release Rahul.
Thus, Jaffer replied to the fan, “Fir hamare pass kya bachega”. It loosely translates to “Then what will be left with us?” in English.

Jaffer’s reply satisfied this fan. However, another RCB fan jumped in the conversation and asked the Punjab batting coach to ‘Atleast give Gayle.’ Like Rahul, Chris Gayle too was part of RCB in the past and is now with Punjab. The Windies batter is facing issues of fitness yet remains a force to reckon with and played some match-winning knocks in IPL 2020.
Jaffer shunned the fan with a savage reply. He posted this photo as a response to the fan who asked for Gayle to be given back to RCB.

Punjab release Maxwell, Cottrell
Kings XI Punjab may not part ways with Rahul and Gayle but they have released Australian explosive batsman Glenn Maxwell and Windies bowler Sheldon Cottrell.
Punjab has also released other high-profile cricketers including J Neesham, K Gowtham, J Suchith, Mujeeb ur Rahman and K Nair. They have also released H Viljoen and TS Dhillion.
By releasing 9 players from their squad, Punjab has got a whopping Rs 53.2 crore with them for the IPL Auction 2021, which is the largest purse for any franchise. Thus, fans can expect Punjab to go all guns blazing for some players on 18 February.
