Things are heating up in the fourth Test between Australia and India. However, there were some lighter moments as well that brought a smile to everyone’s face. One such moment was when Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma mimicked umpire Paul Wilson and raised his finger to give Aussie opener David Warner out.
Rohit becomes umpire, declares Warner OUT
The incident happened in the 26th over of Australia’s second innings. David Warner playing on 48 runs, failed to understand Washington Sundar’s arm ball. Warner went back in his crease to cut the ball thinking its an off-spin delivery. However, the ball came in and hit Warner’s back thigh. The batsman was in front of the wickets. So Indians appealed for an LBW and umpire Paul Wilson gave him out.
Warner first decided to walk back but at the last moment took a review. The DRS showed that the impact was in the line of the stumps and the ball would have crashed on the stumps.
The third umpire asked the on-field umpire to upheld his decision. The Indian players who saw the DRS tracking on the big screen knew what the decision would be. So Rohit Sharma decided to get a bit cheeky and raised his finger before the umpire did it.
Rohit shadow practices as Smith watches
This was not the only reason Sharma was in the news today. Later in the day, he shadow practiced batting at the crease when the game was halted for a break. Smith was near the wickets and he too watched Rohit as he tried to visualize batting.
Meanwhile, Team India has a tough challenge on day five as the hosts have given India a target of 328 runs. In response, India made 4 runs in 1.5 overs when the rain stopped the play. So India has the daunting task of batting for an entire day tomorrow to save this Test.
