PAK vs SA: Pakistan denies visa to South Africa’s Indian-origin performance analyst Prasanna Agoram

The South African cricket team have landed in the cricket crazy nation of Pakistan and are set to play a cricket series in Pakistan after a gap of 14 long years. It is going to be a historic series and everyone in the South African camp including captain Quinton de Kock is very much excited for the series. But one person who will not be there in Pakistan is the South African team’s performance analyst Prasanna Agoram.

Visa denied for Indian origin Prasanna Agoram

The South African team are currently undergoing their quarantine which is a mandatory protocol to follow in these covid times and since they will not be able to hit the nets, the cricketers would have loved to have video analysis sessions in their hotel rooms.

Unfortunately for the players and for himself, the South African performance analyst Prasanna Agoram has been denied visa to enter into Pakistan as he’s of Indian origin and has been forced to work from home now for this series.

When being questioned on how he feels regarding the matter, the analyst who has been involved with the proteas team for a long time now said

I am like a dead man walking. I will do my best from here but yes, this is a big blow for me and for the players in the team who depend on me for the detailed analysis that’s best done from the ground. But we need to understand the protocols in place. I have been told that Lalchand Rajput, former India player who coaches Zimbabwe, couldn’t travel to Pakistan, umpire Aleem Dar is unable to come for work to India and such. Prasanna Agoram hopeful of making an impact while working from home

Work from home is the order of the day for so many people around the world in the IT industry and now performance analyst Prasanna Agoram has to adapt to this working model for his upcoming series of Pakistan vs South Africa. Even though technology has come so far that people are just a call away, players will not be able to connect with their performance analyst through video calls because cell phones are not allowed in the dressing room.

So the contact would be after playing hours. “Players who need face-to-face chats – the medium that they prefer- will have Zoom calls and such. Where I can take them through slides, if needed. Or just talk and share. I have a UPS with one-hour back-up. I am all set to do ball-by-ball analysis” – said Prasanna Agoram in an interview with a leading newspaper in India. The first of 2 tests will begin on January 26^th at Karachi.
