The long-standing issue between the retired Indian players and BCCI regarding the NOC to participate in overseas leagues might just come to an end as the former world cup winning captain MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh are all in hit list for the upcoming Big Bash League which is a franchise based cricket conducted by the Australian cricket board during their summer.
BBL was regarded as one of the high quality league and some even rated it as the 2nd best league after Indian premier league but the quality of the league has been pointing south in the last 2 years. The decrease in quality is mainly due to the non participation of top drawer players and as a matter of fact, the first choice Australian players themselves are not participating in the league due to the national commitments.
Will BCCI provide NOC MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh ?
Yuvraj Singh retired from all forms of cricket in 2019 and BCCI provided NOC to Yuvraj Singh who participated in several leagues such as T10, Global Canada T20 league around the world. Now, with MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina having retired from international cricket, there are slight possibilities that they might be given NOC but they have to retire from all forms of cricket which would also include IPL.
One has to wait and see about the further development of this issue.
Suresh Raina’s request to BCCI
Earlier this year, Suresh Raina has expressed his disappointment over BCCI for not allowing the non-contracted players to participate in foreign leagues.
I hope the BCCI can get together with the ICC or with franchises and allow players who don’t have BCCI contracts to play in overseas leagues,” Suresh Raina said
“Yusuf (Pathan), myself, Robin Uthappa – a lot of quality players (could) … go overseas and learn a lot. We aren’t in the BCCI contracts list, some of us don’t have IPL contracts. We aren’t playing international cricket, and the competition in domestic cricket isn’t what it is at the international level,” Suresh Raina concluded
Suresh Raina looked in good shape at the start of the IPL but he had to skip this season of IPL due to personal commitments and one has to wait and watch how things unfold in the coming days.
