Interesting incidents have started to take place in this edition of IPL 2020 and we are only 2 weeks into the tournament. The spider cam was introduced to provide an unique angle to cricket fans but at times, it has turned into a bane on the cricket field hanging high where the ball hits the camera and creates the doubts in the minds of the players out in the field.
Jaydev Unadkat- The newest victim in the house
The game was all but gone for RR and were staring at their first defeat of the season after winning 2 high scoring encounters in Sharjah in a dramatic fashion. Dinesh Karthik gave the ball to Kuldeep Yadav for the first time in the 16th over after the strategic time break. RR were 90 for the loss of 8 wickets and they needed another 85 runs from a mere 30 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav bowled 3 out of KKR’s last 5 overs and in the last ball of the 18th over, he picked the wicket of Jaydev Unadkat who was caught at deep mid-wicket. The ball was hit high in the air and the umpires suspected that the ball might have hit the spider cam on its way but there were no conclusive evidence to turn it down. Jaydev Unadkat had to walk to the pavilion.
Weak middle order exposed
RR won their first two games because of their strong top order batters who were relentless in the tiny Sharjah ground that had smaller boundaries. Their captain Steve Smith and Sanju Samson in particular were brutal but Abu Dhabi was a different ball game altogether.
RR were asked to chase a target of 175 in their 20 overs but RR batsmen literally had no clue on how to pace their innings in this ground as their top 3 fell for a combined 32 which literally ended their hopes. They will be hoping for a more improved show in their game against RCB on 3rd of October.
