WATCH: MS Dhoni’s massive SIX goes out of the stadium, fan takes ball home

CSK have stuttered to their first loss in the 13th edition of IPL when they were outsmarted by Steve Smith led Rajasthan Royals by 16 runs. The only consolation for MS Dhoni fans would be seeing their hero smashing 3 consecutive sixes which he hit of the bowling of Tom Curran in the final over of the game where the hopes were well and truly buried.

One could say that MS Dhoni’s innings was poorly constructed as he didn’t go from ball 1 when there was an absolute necessity. The required run rate was well above 16 when MS Dhoni came into bat and there was absolutely no time for the veteran to settle but to go bonkers from ball 1.

MS Dhoni demolishes Tom Curran

CSK were always playing the catch-up game after exhibiting worst bowling performance. Although the target was a demanding one, the wicket was aiding the batters to a great deal to go with small boundaries and dew, and also considering the bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals, the target would have been an achievable one if CSK had showed intent right from the word go.
When CSK needed 38 runs from the final over where even 6 sixes wouldn’t have done the job, MS Dhoni thrashed 3 massive sixes in a row that saw MS Dhoni fans go crazy.

One of the sixes went out of the ground and landed in the parking area showed that MS Dhoni still has it in him. A fan took the ball with him that fell out of the ground.

What MS Dhoni had to say?

MS Dhoni’s tactics were put into question this time around when he promoted Kedar Jadhav at #6 by holding himself back. When asked about the same, MS Dhoni said,

I haven’t batted for a long time. 14-day quarantine doesn’t help. Also wanted to try different things. Give opportunities to Sam Curran. Have the opportunity to try different things. If it doesn’t work, you can always go back to your strengths.

MS Dhoni, by now would have assessed that this tournament will not be as smooth as it was in the previous seasons and he would have task cut out in this season. CSK take on Delhi Capitals on 25th September in their 3rd league game.
