England have made a remarkable comeback from nowhere to level the 3 match ODI series 1-1 with one game to go. The 2nd ODI started on a disappointing note for the hosts but to be fair, the wicket was a difficult one to bat on. England captain Eoin Morgan was happy with the pitch conditions because he said that he wanted to prepare for the 2023 world cup which happens in India where the wickets will be on the drier side.
Australia were cruising home chasing 232, they were 144 for the loss of 2 wickets with another 88 runs required from just above 19 overs but Chris Woakes made a mockery of Australian lower middle order to script a dramatic victory for the hosts.
Chris Woakes’s dream spell to the rescue
After losing David Warner and Marcus Stoinis early in their chase to Jofra Archer, it was their captain Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuschagne who steadied the ship with a 107 run partnership but Chris Woakes came out of nowhere to break the lower middle order of the Australian batting line up to buy a dramatic victory for the Poms.
First he removed Aaron Finch who played down the wrong line and then dismissed the hero of the previous match Glenn Maxwell with another beautiful delivery and both the balls had some contrast swing in it to get the better of the batsmen. In the end Chris Woakes finished with the figures of 10 overs for 32 runs and 3 wickets.

David Warner’s struggles against Jofra Archer continues
One of the greatest openers that Australia have ever produced as far as white ball cricket is concerned, David Warner. He has been nothing short of disappointment in this tour so far. The pocket dynamite who is known for his sheer consistency has been troubled by Jofra Archer big time in this tour.

David Warner will be hoping to revive himself in the all-important series decider that is scheduled to happen at the same venue on Wednesday.
