The Indian team started their preparations very well with two practice matches against England Cricket Board XI and the county team Leicestershire. India bludgeoned their opponents mercilessly in both the games, ECBXI were down by 125 runs while Leicestershire had a pounding by 281 runs.

In the first practice game against England Cricket Board XI riding on the half-centuries from Prithvi Shaw(70), skipper Shreyas Iyer(54) and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan(50), India-A posted a massive 328 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Off-spinner Ryan Higgins was the pick of the bowlers for ECBXI as he scalped 4 wickets for 50 runs. In reply ECBXI never looked on track for the chase and were plundered for a mere 203 with no batsman showing any resilience whatsoever. For India-A fast bowler Deepak Chahar picked up 3 wickets while Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel, Deepak Hooda chipped in with 2 wickets each.

The second practice game had the same story as well alike the first game, India-A this time posted a humongous total of 458 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Prithvi Shaw(132) and Mayank Agarwal(151) had a blistering 221 runs partnership for the opening wicket in just 26 overs which ruined all the hopes of the opposition and then another Under-19 star Shubman Gill proved his selection worthy with an impressive 86 runs which left the opposition bowlers reeling and struggling for wickets.

In reply, Leicestershire were bundled out for a paltry score of 177 which meant India registered a clobbering victory over their opponents by a massive 281 runs.

Now, the series is going to commence from 22nd June and the first game will be played at the County Ground in Derby with the hosts possessing a good side with the likes of Liam Dawson, skipper Steven Mullaney, Reece Topley, Sam Hain, Sam Curran etc in their bank.
