Twitter Q&A’s, Instagram live, In-house training and Tiktok videos seems to be the favourite activities of our superstars during the quarantine days. Indian cricket’s go to man KL Rahul is no different. Like others, he too took to his twitter handle to answer some of the queries of his fans. During this interaction, one fan asked him who does he think can break Yuvraj Singh’s record of fastest T20 international fifty.
When Kingsmead was on its feet
No Indian will ever forget Yuvraj Singh’s heroics at the Kingsmead, Durban in 2007. Famously known for his six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad, that match also witnessed yet another incredible feat from the southpaw. He smashed the quickest half century in international T20 cricket in just 12 balls. This record which was set way back in 2007 is yet to be broken.
Who will break Yuvi’s record?
So it was quite obvious that the fans would like to hear from the fastest half centurion in the IPL on who will be the one to break Yuvi’s 13 year old long record.Â
“You hold the record for the fastest IPL 50, off 14 balls. Who do you think can equal or break Yuvraj’s record of a T20I fifty in just 12 balls? #AskKL” asked a fan.

KL took no time to reply that he will be the destined one to break this record. He already holds the record for the fastest fifty in the IPL. He took just 14 balls to reach the half century mark against Delhi Daredervils in IPL 2018. He then fell just 2 balls short to equal Yuvi’s feat, but with his current form he seems to be the most realistic choice to rewrite the history books.Â
Opportunity missed for KL
If not for the pandemic, KL would have been leading the Kings XI Punjab right now. He was named the captain of the Punjab based franchise after their former skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals. Punjab boasted a balanced side this season after making some smart buys in the auction and were looking strong to claim their maiden IPL title.
