Rohit Sharma Reveals His Major Career Goal

Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma who has achieved great success and heights in his career is willing to achieve one elusive glory in his career i.e. the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Rohit wasn’t a part of the 2011 World Cup contingent which won the Cup after a 28-year drought. He has been one of the most successful openers in limited-overs cricket in today’s era but a World Cup glory is what he is eyeing for.

Rohit Sharma was exceptional in the 2019 Cricket World Cup where he emerged as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He was at the top of his game in the 2019 World Cup and went onto score five centuries.

“Winning the World Cup is a dream of all us, together. I want to win World Cups. Of course, every time you go out there, you want to win every game. But the World Cup is something that you know is the pinnacle of everything. I want to win World Cups,”

Who can forget India’s heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in the semifinal. A billion dreams shattered at the very moment when India was ousted. That MS Dhoni‘s run out image completely ruined India’s hopes.

It was more than a heartbreak for Rohit who almost single-handedly took India to the semifinal with his outrageous batting effort. He has been an elusive trophy holder for India having won Champions League, multiple IPL trophies, 2007 World T20 and also the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, but the Cricket World Cup is the only Cup which is not in his trophy cabinet.

Rohit Sharma is hopeful for the T20 World Cup

The current COVID-19 outbreak has stunned the entire world. The cricketing world has been adversely hit. However, Rohit is still hopeful for the event and is taking this time for an apt preparation.

We are really not sure when this World Cup (T20 World Cup) is going to happen. As and when it happens, we will have a fair amount of time to prepare for it. The cricket boards around the world are not going to say ‘everything is fine, we will schedule the World Cup’. Of course, preparation time is going to be given for all the countries because all the countries are under lockdown. Nobody’s playing, nobody’s training. The limited stuff at home is not enough,” Rohit said.
