Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been one of the busiest sports celebs on the social media platform during the lockdown period. ‘KP,’ as he’s also referred to has had a chat with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on instagram live, while also taking a few Q and A sessions on Twitter.
It is a known fact that Kevin Pietersen was one of the most intimidating batting personalities during his brief cricketing career and often made the headlines for his ability to dominate the bowlers by being on the charge. The former specialist batsman was a part of 104 Tests and scored 8181 runs for England.
However, just like any other batsman, ‘KP’ talked about one of the most lethal bowlers that he faced during his cricketing years. According to Kevin Pietersen, it was Mohammad Asif who was one of the standouts and often got the better of the star batsman.
Kevin Pietersen shared a video of a magical out swinging delivery of Asif that got him out caught behind.
KP gets bamboozled!
I think there’s plenty batters around the world that were happy he got banned!
He was the best I faced!
I had no idea against him! https://t.co/AoN2xN2oX1— Kevin Pietersen? (@KP24) April 13, 2020
The rise and fall of Mohammad Asif
Mohammad Asif was at the pinnacle of his career and the strike bowler of Pakistan at one stage. However an unfortunate act of spot fixing got him suspended along with Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt.
Pietersen even went on to say that “plenty of batters around the world were happy he got banned,” since he was known to swing the ball at will. The fast bowler was a part of just 23 Tests for Pakistan and had 106 wickets under his belt with best figures of 6 for 41.
Asif also featured in 38 ODIs for Pakistan and scalped 46 wickets with an economy of 4.71. Asif was banned from cricket by the ICC in 2011.
