Watch: Umpires reprimand Virat Kohli after Team India captain confuses NZ batsmen

Team India were not quite up to the mark during the concluded test series against New Zealand and as a result, they faced a thrashing from the hosts. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Co are again under the scanner with their behavior on the field.

When Kiwi openers went in for the chase of 132, India were in desperate situation to pick up wickets very early in the innings. Tom Latham and Tom Blundell started off on good note for New Zealand.

During the 4th over, both openers triggered off for a single but one of the Indian fielders shouted ‘two’ while the batsmen were running the single. This was one curious tactic to confuse the batsmen and umpire Richard Kettleborough was not impressed with the incident. He straight away sent a warning to Virat Kohli and dismissed the explanation from Indian captain. Virat Kohli was heard as saying that fielder was indicating to fine leg fielder for the possibility of second run.

“No shouting two,” umpire Kettleborough said to Kohli. “You shouted two there. No you’re not, you shouted here, enough please.”

Virat Kohli was not a happy man during the post match press conference with the performance of his team in the test series. And when asked about his on-field behavior during the course of the match, he lost his cool over the reporter.

Reporter was making the point that Virat Kohli should be setting a better example for the upcoming generation. Virat replied that, “You need to find out exactly what happened and come up with better questions. You can’t come here with half questions or half details of what happened. And also, if you want to create controversy, this is not the right place.”

New Zealand got home comfortably and took the match by 7 wickets. Both openers made half-centuries and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets. This was the first series defeat for India in the ongoing world test championship.
