Sarfaraz Ahmed is best known to lead Pakistan cricket team to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. In the same year, he holds the record of maximum dismissal in a single inning.

He was called to the Pakistan International team after having led his side in a low-scoring encounter to win the 2006 ICC U-19 World Cup against India. Pakistan had only scored 109 runs, and the Indian cricket team was bowled out for just 71 while bowling.

Controversy

• In June 2017, when Pakistan won the last match of Champions Trophy against Sri Lanka and made it to the semifinals, Sarfaraz was imposed a fine of 20% of the match fees by the Panel of ICC Match Referees when they found out that Pakistan was over short when time allowances were taken into consideration.
