Team India will look to draw the series level against New Zealand in the second Test at Hagley Oval starting on Saturday. On Friday, the visitors were dealt with a massive blow as their star fast bowler Ishant Sharma is likely to be sidelined for the Test match due to an injured right ankle.
Ishant Sharma shone in 1st Test
Ishant Sharma‘s performance was one of the only positives for Team India in the first Test as not much went visitors way. The speedster snared five wickets in the first innings.
Earlier, Ishant Sharma arrived late to join India’s Test squad for NZ due to the ankle injury which he had sustained while playing a Ranji Trophy game for Delhi.
For the recurrence of the ankle injury, Ishant did not participate in nets ahead of the second Test on Thursday. After sending down a few balls, the quick complained of pain in the same ankle and did not take any further part in the net session.
Ishant Sharma’s replacement
In Ishant’s absence, Umesh Yadav is likely to come into the Indian XI. Umesh Yadav was seen having a long conversation with the bowling coach Bharat Arun during the net session on Friday.
However, a decision on Ishant Sharma will come late and only on match day eve.
