England captain Heather Knight smashed the first century in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday. This was also her maiden century in T20 internationals. Knight’s unbeaten 108 helped her side to post the biggest total (176-2) of Women’s T20 WC 2020.
After being asked to bat first by Thailand, Knight came to the middle when England were in trouble as they had lost both the openers for just 7. However, then she added an unbeaten 169-run partnership with Natalie Sciver (59).
Knight also became the seventh English woman to cross 1000 T20I runs.

England’s total of 176/2 also went on to be this edition’s highest team total as Sciver’s team went on to beat Thailand by 98 runs. Throughout the chase of 177 runs, the Thai looked out of sort and hardly managed to pull themselves in the game.
Opening batter Nattakan Chantam’s 32 turned out to be the highest score while Naruemol Chaiwai and Nannapat Koncharoenkai scored 19 and 12 respectively to help the chasing team put 78 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
England top the Group B standings after two games, having lost one and won one. The other teams in the Group B are West Indies, South Africa and Pakistan. Pakistan are the only ones to have not played a single game so far.
