As India face New Zealand in the 3rd ODI in Tauranga with a possible whitewash scare in front, the Indian fans seems to be missing the services of their limited overs vice captain Rohit Sharma. The backup openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal hasn’t lived up to the expectations and has failed to deliver in all of the 3 ODI’s and it’s no wonder that the fans want Rohit back immediately.
Miss U Hitman
Indian fans in Tauranga came up with a banner which read ” Miss U Hitman Rohit”.

Out of the last thirteen ODI’s that India played with Rohit, he has stood tall after the 10th over (first powerplay) in ten of those occasions and India has tasted victory in all those ten matches. Contrary to this, his juniors Prithvi and Mayank has failed to stay together after the initial powerplay in all three chances that they’ve got. This very well cements the argument why Rohit Sharma is the most important man for Indian cricket when it comes to India’s white ball fortunes.
Prithvi & Mayank fails to cash in
It was possibly the greatest opertunity for these young openers to make a statement. It is quite rarely that you get both of the permanent openers out with an injury for India. If any of these two young openers would have fired, it would’ve made things difficult for Dhawan in his comeback who was going through a tough patch. But contrary to all the hype and expectations around these youngsters, they didnt grab this golden opertunity.
Injury forces Rohit out
Rohit Sharma was ruled out from the rest of the tour of New Zealand after he suffered a calf strain in the final Twenty20 international against New Zealand. He had to hobble off the field in the 17th over of the final T20I at Bay Oval and did not take the field when India fielded.Â
ICYMI: Rohit Sharma will not take any further part in India's tour of New Zealand.
