Indian captain Virat Kohli was left in disbelief during the ODI between India and New Zealand. New Zealand leggie Ish Sodhi left Indian skipper bamboozled with his googly as he managed to get past through Indian Superstar’s defense to hit the stumps.
Heart of the Matter:
It was the 29th over of the Indian innings when India was cruising along with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer batting in the middle. Both players united at the crease after losing both openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal in a quick time. India were in a dire need of a partnership and Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli joined forces to build a partnership over 100 runs. The Indian captain also crossed the 50-run mark in the process and he was looking set to score big.
New Zealand were getting desperate for a wicket and their captain looked towards their willy leg-spinner, Ish Sodhi. Sodhi didn’t disappoint his skipper as he managed to clinch Virat Kohli’s wicket on the 4th delivery of his first over only. It was the bowling of highest class as the leg-spinner smartly floated the first 3 deliveries and then to bowled a googly to the Indian skipper.
Virat Kohli didn’t really expect Sodhi to bring out the variation so early on and the googly rips in just enough from the good length to sneak past the inside edge of a forward prodding Kohli. The ball went through the gap and smashes middle and leg peg.

Twice in the last 10 days, Ish Sodhi has deceived a world-class batsman with a googly that wasn’t delivered completely or conventionally from the back of the hand. Kane Williamson in the nets last week and Virat Kohli here #NZvIND @cricbuzz

What’s Next?
Team India batted first after New Zealand skipper Tom Latham won the toss and opted to field first. The Men in Blue came out all guns blazing and riding on the hundred of Shreyas Iyer and fifties of Kohli and KL Rahul. Agarwal, Shaw, and Kedar Jadhav also managed to do a handful of contributions to India’s huge score of 347. Indian bowlers would be looking to defend the score set by the Indian batsmen to make a winning start in the ODI series as well.
