Cricket is a “Gentleman’s game” and all the teams playing around the globe do maintain standards on the field to play in the spirit of the game. One such instance was seen in the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the semifinals of ICC Under 19 World Cup 2020.
Winning the toss, Pakistan skipper Rohail Nazir opted to have a go with the bat and India managed to scalp the first wicket in the last ball of the second over when Sushant Mishra removed opener Muhammad Huraira for just 4 runs.
However, the incident we are talking about took place in the 19th ball of the innings when a well-directed bouncer from Sushant Mishra hit Haider Ali on his left shoulder which left him in severe pain.
Sushant Mishra displayed an act of spirit of cricket
Haider Ali was seen rubbing his shoulder after the ball hit him and was kneeled on the ground. Seeing him in trouble, Sushant Mishra walked towards him and checked if he is okay.
This gesture from Sushant Mishra is now winning hearts all over the internet and he is being appreciated for the sportsmanship he has shown on the field.
Here’s the video;
It has been a good battle so far on the field
Stakes were high right from the start of the game and both teams have displayed their mettle on the field. Till the news was written, Pakistan were 97 for the loss of 3 wickets in 26.2 overs.
Ravi Bishnoi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sushant Mishra scalped a wicket each and the three batsmen to be dismissed were Haider Ali (56 off 77), Muhammad Huraira (4 off 6) and Fahad Munir (0 off 16). India is looking good to go with the pace battery spitting fire on the field so far and will be looking to restrict Pakistan for a formidable total.
