It was Rahul’s first T20I match as a keeper-batsman in the side. The trick seems to have worked well for Virat Kohli in terms of plans for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020. Rahul is likely to continue as the keeper in the limited-overs leg of this tour. The Karnataka batsman has been in some superb form lately in white-ball cricket. In T20Is, in his last seven innings, his scores have been: 52, 62, 11, 91, 45, 54, 56. After Rahul’s wicket fell, India quickly lost Virat Kohli as well for 45.
With 60 runs required off six overs, the chase seems to go down the wire but Shreyas Iyer‘s superb knock of fifty ensured India got home with one over to spare. Iyer scored 58 runs off 29 balls. Shivam Debu made handful contribution of 13 runs while Manish Pandey stayed unbeaten on 14 runs.
