Kuldeep reaches 100 ODI wickets as he turns India’s fortune in Rajkot
Kuldeep Yadav was instrumental in India’s win 36-run win over the Aussies in a crucial match in Rajkot. Chasing 341, Australia was well on course in the chase at the 38-over mark with Steve Smith in his 90s. Kuldeep Yadav first dismissed Alex Carey and later got Smith out on 98 in the same over.
Carey’s wicket was Kuldeep’s 100th ODI scalp. After this over, Australia couldn’t lose their momentum and looked clueless. Kuldeep Yadav now has 101 wickets from 58 matches at an average of 25.5 with an economy of 5.02. He also has an impressive strike rate of 30.4. BCCI posted a tweet from their official account congratulating the young leggie. Here are some tweets on Kuldeep’s performance.

Record-breaker Kuldeep Yadav
Other than being the third fastest Indian to reach 100 ODI wickets, he is also the fastest spinner to do it. The previous record was held by Harbhajan Singh of 76 matches. He also became the joint-third fastest spinner to get 100 wickets. The record is held by Rashid Khan of 44 wickets. He also became only the second left-arm leg-spinner, after Brad Hogg to achieve this feat.
Kuldeep Yadav has been taking long strides in the one-day format since his arrival in international cricket in 2017. He has been key to India’s success as well by regularly picking up wickets for the middle overs, which was again the case in the second ODI. India will now take on Australia in the third and the final match in Bengaluru on January 19. The series is leveled at 1-1.
