Every edition of the ICC U19 World cup brings unknown talents to the foreign global stage. Fans also look forward to the boys that can represent their countries going forward in the future. This time also, it is no different from the competition kick-starting on 17th January in South Africa. We take a look at 5 unknown talents that can take the world by storm this year.
Jake Fraser-McGurk
This 17-year-old sensation is already creating a buzz in the Australian domestic circuit and will lead Australia in this year’s U19 world cup. Jake Fraser-McGurk has become the third-youngest player to represent Victoria. He made half-centuries on his Sheffield Shield and One-day cup debuts earlier this season and his stroke-play left everyone amazed. Australia will be depending on this all-rounder come to the U19 world cup.

Jordon Cox
Jordan Cox has been rated highly in English junior level cricket. This wicket-keeper batsman has been regular in Kent second XI since 2017 and recently signed a contract for first-class cricket with Kent. He is in great form lately and was the highest scorer in recent tri-series with Sri Lanka and West Indies in the Caribbean. He made 228 runs from 6 matches in that series. He along with captain George Baldersonare crucial cogs in English wheels this world cup.
Atharva Ankolekar
ArtharvaAnkolekar has made his way through from the ‘Maidans’ of Mumbai to the national U19 team. His mother is a bus conductor in Mumbai and had to struggle to fulfill her son’s dream of becoming a professional cricketer. Atharva made his name with left-arm spin when he won India the final of U19 Asia Cup against Bangladesh in Colombo last year. He took 5-fer and was the man of the match in the final.

Rohail Nazir
Rohail Nazir will lead Pakistan in this year’s U19 world cup. He was also part of Pakistan’s campaign in the 2018 edition. This wicket-keeper batsman is in great touch going into the tournament and gathered 302 runs from 5 innings in recently held U19 Asia cup.

Ibrahim Zadran
Ibrahim Zadran is the only player in the tournament squads who have already made full International debuts. Ibrahim also played in the 2018 edition held in New Zealand. This opening batsman has already played 2 tests, 1 ODI and 3 T20 Internationals for the senior team. He was instrumental in Afghanistan’s historic test win against Bangladesh with 87 runs in the 2nd innings. Certainly, his experience will come in handy for Afghanistan through the course of the tournament.
