There’s no stopping Liverpool at the moment, as they’ve now progressed to the next round of the FA Cup after beating their city rivals Everton 1-0 at home recently. Though Liverpool’s form this season has been unparalleled, the win against the Toffees last evening was even more special for the Liverpool faithful as Jurgen Klopp had rested quite a few first-team players for the much anticipated FA Cup tie.
Trusting the youth
Only senior players such as Adam Lallana, Divock Origi, James Milner and Joe Gomez were amongst those who got to start for the Reds. It was a thoroughly professional performance by Klopp’s young brigade as they managed to keep a clean sheet against a decent Everton unit.
Curtis Jones arrives at Liverpool
However, it was 18-year-old Curtis Jones’ FIFA-Esque finish which grabbed Liverpool the winner as well as every football fan’s attention. The Merseyside Red was quick to acknowledge their team’s complete performance and Curtis Jones’ blinder of a curling finish that got them through to the next round. Apart from Jones, Liverpool fans also were also in awe of Joe Gomez’s presence in central defence, who is steadily turning into a regular in Klopp’s eleven.
The kids were incredible last night. Don't forget the senior players who led them on the field. Adrian – superb saves. Gomez – brick wall. Lallana – the kapitan! Lord Origi – nice assist for Jones. Debut for Takumi Minamino ??? #LFC

Imagine being @curtisjr_10 right now, what a day for the lad, that’s what it’s all about, what a sport, that goal just gets better and better each time I watch it, unstoppable, brilliant by every one of them, I though Lallana and Gomez in particular were phenomenal #FACup #LFC ⚽️

Is Joe Gomez one of our best ever bargains? £3.5m? #LFC

Gomez coming into his own
Joe Gomez has managed to gain the trust of his manager and is giving Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren a run for their money. Though both Matip and Lovren are out injured, Gomez’s recent performances are likely to keep them on the sidelines for a while more.
