Twitterati upset with Jofra Archer bowling consecutive beamers

Jofra Archer always loves to take center stage on social media. Archer has come under the scanner after his behavior yesterday in the ongoing boxing day test against South Africa.

The incident

Jofra Archer was bowling against South African night-watchman Anrich Nortje in the penultimate over of the day. He bowled two consecutive Beamers to him, first of those was declared No-ball by the on-field umpire. But the second beamer got the benefit of an attempted slower ball, which is being considered as a mistake from Umpire because it was clearly above waist height.

Jofra Archer didn’t even care to check with the Batsman and apologize for it. Normally whenever this kind of incidents happen, bowler straight away goes to the Batsman and expresses sportsmanship spirit. The behavior of Jofra didn’t go too well with the fans and they immediately took to Twitter to post their reactions.

Earlier incidents

Jofra Archer is in the news for this kind of incident not for the first time. Earlier in the year, during the Ashes, Steven Smith was floored after being hit by An Archer bouncer. But Archer straight away started going back to his mark rather than checking the health of Smith. Later on, a couple of English players defended him in the press conference but that was not the kind of behavior that kids want to see from their role models.

Quite remarkably, Archer is also struggling for wickets after that Ashes series. He is not enjoying bowling with kookaburra balls. He has not been at his usual best in New Zealand and the ongoing South Africa tour.

England hopeful of a miracle

England is in need of another miracle to save their faces after familiar first Innings debacle. In response to South Africa’s 284, England got bowled out for 181 with Rabada and Philander being the star performers for the home team at Centurion. South Africa were 72/4 at the end of the day’s play in their second dig.
