Europa League: How Arsenal may line-up against Standard Liege?

Arsenal get their Europa League campaign underway when they welcome Belgian side Standard Liege to the Emirates Stadium for matchday two.

Having won the first game 0-3 away at Eintracht Frankfurt, Unai Emery’s men are currently leading the group, ahead of Liege on goal difference.

Emery will target nothing less than all 3 points from the home leg, but the former Sevilla and PSG boss will still ring in changes to the side which started against Manchester United at the weekend.

Here take a look at how Arsenal’s playing 11 may look like:

Goalkeeper: Emiliano Martinez kept a clean sheet in each of the two games he played so far in the season, including the Europa League. The 27-year-old Argentine will once again be chosen over Bernd Leno in this competition.

Defenders: Emery could name an entirely different backline here. Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney both have recovered from their respective injuries, with only the match fitness keeping them away from the first team. Expect the duo to start from the off, along with Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi.

Midfielders: Dani Ceballos is pushing for a start having come off the bench at Old Trafford to play the last half an hour. Joe Willock should get into the midfield as well as the 20-year-old Englishman looks to impress his manager.

Flanks and No-10: A lot of Arsenal fans couldn’t digest that Mesut Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s squad for the United game. The former Real Madrid star is a proven star and has the ability to change the game on his own. He should be fresh to get a start here.

Nicolas Pepe’s indifferent start to his Arsenal career means the former Lille star could be given an opportunity to get his confidence back, while Reiss Nelson is set to start here.

Forward: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to get a rest here, and with Alexandre Lacazette still out with an injury means, Gabriel Martinelli should lead the lines here for Arsenal.
