An already-strong Delhi team will gain more strength in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and star opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan joins them.
Dhawan gets back to cricket
The left-hand batsman was a part of India’s team for the T20I series against South Africa. As he is not in India’s Test squad, Dhawan enjoyed a little break and is now geared up for Delhi’s domestic season.
The left-hand batsman is one of India’s most successful openers in white-ball cricket. However, a thumb injury curtailed his World Cup journey and since then he was in rehabilitation. He made a comeback in competitive cricket during the tour of Windies.
No play for Delhi yet in Vijay Hazare trophy
Delhi has been unfortunate in the Vijay Hazare trophy so far thanks to the heavy rains. All four games of Delhi have been washed out and hence Delhi hasn’t received any chance to prove its mettle.
And the clash against Baroda is also uncertainty as heavy rains are expected on Friday. So it seems that although Dhawan is available for the matches, he may not get a chance to play.
After this Delhi will face Uttar Pradesh on October 08, Odisha on October 10 and Punjab on October 14 and Haryana on October 16.
Delhi’s star-studded squad for Vijay Hazare trophy
With the likes of Nitesh Rana, Pawan Negi, and Navdeep Saini, Delhi is already having a strong squad for the Vijay Hazare trophy. And now Dhawan’s inclusion will add to their top-order’s strength.
Meanwhile, the team is missing the services of wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant who is currently a part of India’s Test team.
