In the wake of the massive furor, sparked by former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi’s comments, via Twitter, where the former skipper asked the United Nations to take ‘action against India for people’s plight in Kashmir’, Shikhar Dhawan is the latest Indian cricketer to slam Afridi.
The 31-year-old Dhawan iterated to Afridi to focus on improving the conditions in his country before talking about India. “Pehle khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho (First, improve your country and keep your thoughts with you),” the southpaw said.
The Southpaw took to social media to reply to Afridi’s sly tweet:
Pehle khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho. Apne desh ka joh hum kar rahe hai woh acha hi hai aur aage jo karna hai woh humein ache se pata hai. Zyaada dimaag mat lagao @SAfridiOfficial

Dhawan’s remarks have come in response to Afridi’s tweet in which the Pakistani had described the recent violence in Kashmir as “appalling”.
Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?

Afridi’s tweet created a massive furor and criticism from all quarters as a plethora of Indian Cricketers weighed in on the issue and termed the Pakistani’s remark as reprehensible. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma said that he was “offended” by Afridi’s remarks.
As an Indian, I feel offended to see such baseless remarks! Kashmir is, was and…will always be an integral part of India.

Several other Indian cricketers have lambasted Afridi’s remarks. While Sachin Tendulkar at an event in Mumbai stated “It is obvious that we have capable people to manage our country, run our country. No outsider needs to tell us what we need to do,”, the former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev alluded, when asked for a reaction, “Who is he? Why are we giving importance to him? We should not be giving importance to certain people.”
