How both the teams fared in the Group so far?
USA:
Though the world no-1 won the first two games and are already through to the next round, they have hardly hit the top gears.
The 21-point win over the Czech Republic was hardly convincing at all, while the win over Turkey was down to the luck.
The Turks more than matched the prowesses of USA, forcing an over-time following an 81-81 tie after the end of the regulation period. Popovich’s men just about managed to edge the Asian team out 93-92 after winning the over-time 12-11.
Popovich must improve his team as the profile of the opponents will only increase.
Japan:
Japan are out of the competition following two consecutive defeats against Turkey and Czech Republic in Game-1 and Game-2 respectively.
