SL vs NZ T20I: New Zealand lethal bowler ruled out for rest of the series

New Zealand faced a big blow after their star bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out for rest of the series. Ferguson has recently sustained a fractured thumb which resulted in his unavailability in the team. Now, he will not be able to play any other match of the ongoing series.
Ferguson fractured thumb puts stress on the team
A 28 years old fast-bowler who is one of the star players in the New Zealand team got injured a day before the first T20I against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. After some scans were done, it was revealed with a small fracture to the middle joint of his thumb.
The New Zealand head coach, Gary Stead confirmed in a statement saying, “It’s a shame for Lockie to have to miss this series, especially coming off the back of such an impressive World Cup campaign in England,”

“The thumb has been put in a splint and is expected to take four to six weeks to recover; so we’re optimistic he’ll be available for the five-game T20 series against England, which starts on November 1 in Christchurch.
“We won’t name a replacement at this stage as we’re confident we have adequate cover within the T20 squad who are here.” Gary further said.
No replacement for Ferguson at this stage
The team head coach has confirmed in a statement that there will be no replacement for Ferguson and he showed his confidence in the team members of the already present squad. He thinks the one who is in T20I squad will be able to cover for Lockie.
The next T20 international between New Zealand and the host Sri Lanka will be played on 3rd of September, 2019 on Tuesday. The T20I series consists of three matches. New Zealand already has a lead of 1-0 in the series.
