IN-A vs SA-A: Star batsman added to India A squad for 4th and 5th one-dayers

India A has called up star batsman Shikhar Dhawan in the team to play against South Africa A for the fourth and fifth one- day games in Thiruvananthapuram. Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the series after he sustained an injury to his right thumb.
Dhawan’s struggle with his bad form
Dhawan had to leave the World Cup 2019 in midway after he got injured and suffered a hairline fracture to his left thumb during the match against Australia. When he fully recovered and made a comeback in the limited-overs series against West Indies, but his performance was not good enough. He made only 27 runs in the three T20Is and 38 runs in two ODIs.

Vijay Shankar like Dhawan faced the same fate and bad luck when an injury had brought his maiden World Cup experience to a premature end. But later he was all set to return to top-flight cricket and he finally made his return in the Tamil Nadu Premier League earlier this month.
But his misfortune continues and he was able to score only 10 runs and took three wickets in the 3 games for Chepauk Super Gillies. As a matter of fact, he was also not selected for Indian cricket team ODI squad for the West Indies tour.

Out of the two India A squad which BCCI had earlier named, Manish Panday were supposed to do captaincy in the first three matches while for another two matches Shreyas Iyer was given that responsibilty.
India A currently has an upper hand in the game and it is leading the series with 1-0 following their 69-runs win in the first One-dayer.
